australian partner visas - visa requirements - interdependent
This visa type is generally suitable for a person in a same-sex relationship with an
Australian partner, which involves a mutual commitment to a shared life
together.
The application requirements are similar to that of the spouse visa,
except that:
Both the applicant and the Australian sponsor must have turned 18.
All relationships will be assessed on a number of factors to determine the
seriousness of the relationship.
We advise that applicants should be able to:
Provide evidence detailing mutual commitment – which includes the length
of the relationship and time spent living together (we advise that this should
be for at least 12 months);
Provide financial evidence supporting their mutual commitment to their
partner;
Provide evidence demonstrating the social aspects of the relationship,
including pictures and the opinions of family and friends about the
relationship.
