parent visas - visa requirements - remaining relative |
This visa is suitable for any person whose ‘near’ relatives have settled in
Australia. There are several requirements that applicants must meet in order to
be considered for a Remaining Relative Visa: All near relatives, that is
parents, brothers, and sisters, must reside in Australia permanently.
- This includes ‘step’ relatives; and
- If the applicant is married, in-laws are also considered as near
relatives.
Applicants can have up to 3 near relative who reside outside of Australia
as long as:
- The applicant does not live in the same country as any overseas near
relative; and
- The applicant has not had any contact with an overseas near relative in
the 5 years preceding the visa application.
