July 2013

Welcome to the National Visas July 2013 newsletter.

In this edition we would like to introduce you to our featured service − ‘Video (Skype) Consultations’. We also provide some current information about Australian visas as well as our ‘hot tip’ for the month, success stories and a profile of our featured registered migration agent; Alfonso Varela.

We hope you find the newsletter interesting.

Featured Service − Video (Skype) Consultation
Finding an experienced, qualified and registered migration agent with whom to discuss your case can be challenging − especially if you don’t already live in Australia. It can also be difficult to find the time to see your agent in person. This service enables you to discuss any Australian visa issues you have with one of our experienced and qualified migration advisers using Skype.

Our Registered Migration Agents have a webcam and microphone installed on their computer, so you can see and hear them.

Featured Visa − Working Holiday Visa
The Working Holiday Visa provides an opportunity for young people to spend up to 12 months travelling in Australia, with the option of engaging in casual employment. It is available to people from certain countries aged between 18 and 30 years (inclusive). This means you can apply for a visa when you are 30 years of age.
If you think you may be eligible for this visa you can take an online assessment here
Why Use a Migration Professional?
One of our registered migration agents recently had a consultation with a client who had applied for a visa (on her own) based on the advice of a friend. Her friend did not understand that the regulations had changed since she had applied for her own visa. The client applied for her visa without having the necessary ‘time of application’ documents because she didn’t understand the relevant migration law - neither did her friend. This is a mistake that cost her over $3000.00 and will take many months to rectify.

Luckily, in this case we will likely be able to turn the situation around - but the money is gone. Sometimes you don’t get a second chance, so it is critical to get it right first time.

Using a reputable and experienced migration firm ensures that mistakes like this are not made and that your application has the best possible chance of success.

‘Hot Tip’ for July:

There are various types of ‘work visas’ for Australia; that is - visas based on you having a particular work skill. What many applicants don't know is that the requirements are very different depending on the type of work visa for which you apply.

For example; if you apply for the ‘skilled migration’ visas you must have a formal skills assessment and a high level of English language ability. This normally requires you to have a tertiary level qualification. However, for some other visas (depending on your occupation) you don’t need a formal qualification and you don’t need to have your English language tested. One of the best ways to avoid formal skills and English testing is to have an Australian employer sponsor you for your work visa.
