The Job Assistance Service is designed to help you maximise your chance of finding an employer to sponsor you, and to help you understand what you can (and sometimes must) do to meet visa requirements.
One of the main problems visa applicants face is in understanding how the Australian government classifies different occupations and how each occupation has different 'skill' requirements. Sometimes the process is even more complex when there are mandatory skills assessments or mandatory English language requirements.

| Maintaining ‘lawful’ status while in Australia |
All holders of an Australian temporary visa should be aware of the expiry date of their visa. Those who wish to extend their stay in Australia may apply for a different type of visa. As part of this process, you may also qualify or apply for a Bridging Visa. Australian Immigration and Tax Offices ‘Data Match’ to Avoid Fraud
In line with the Australian government’s strict efforts to resolve visa-rorting schemes, the Department of Home Affairs and the Australian Tax Office will conduct data-matching operations in order to track down fraud among holders of 27 different types of Australian visas.

‘Hot Tip’ for June:
The partner visa is a two stage process. Normally you obtain a provisional visa, and then you become eligible for the permanent stage of the visa two years after lodging the original application. There are some circumstances where you can proceed directly to the permanent visa and avoid the two year provisional stage. These include:
If you have been in a spouse (or de facto) relationship with your partner for at least three years at the time you apply for the initial partner visa, or
If you have been in a spouse (or de facto) relationship with your partner for at least two years and you both have a child together at the time you apply for the initial partner visa.
