Featured Service − Job Assistance Service
The Job Assistance Service is designed to help you maximise your chance of finding an employer to sponsor you, and to help you understand how to meet visa requirements.

With this service we will help you identify your occupation from the government list and help you understand how the different requirements apply to your situation. This includes understanding whether or not you need a skills assessment or English language test, and how you may be able to avoid these requirements.

How is your occupation classified by the Australian government?
This article is written by Alfonso Varela, our Skilled Visa expert.

What does nominating an occupation for skilled migration involve and why is it so important?

Think about the traditional board game "snakes and ladders"; imagine that every time you make a decision is like rolling the dice. If you have been making the right decisions, you will be able to continue and get to the top; however, if you make a bad decision at any stage, you may lose everything you have gained so far and even go back to the very beginning!

This analogy can be applied to the complex visa process that is Skilled Migration. Mistakes could potentially mean losing valuable time and money and, in some other cases, could also mean losing your only chance to migrate to Australia.

Australian Partner Visas − the options
This article is written by Esther Taft, our resident Family visa expert.

The Partner visa subclasses are available for people who are in a relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident and in some cases a New Zealand citizen. The Partner visa subclasses cater for those who are married, in a de facto relationship (including same sex relationships), or who have met only recently and intend to come to Australia to be married. This article provides an overview of the partner visa program.

Regional Employer Sponsorship − Good for Regional Business
The Department of Immigration has policies in place to support "regional" employers to meet their labour market needs. This means that there are concessions available both for regional employers and their prospective sponsored employees.

As such, businesses and prospective applicants that cannot meet the regular employer sponsorship criteria may have good options through the Permanent Regional Employer Sponsored scheme.

Australian government releases rules for labour market testing
The Abbott government has released the details for the 'labour market testing' policy for the temporary sponsored visas (457). Despite the expected negative feedback regarding the enactment of the policy, the government has assured employee and employer groups of a sensible approach to the implementation of the new rules. National Visas can help you understand this important new requirement, and we can advise if you may be eligible for an exemption.
