For those who work in the academe and would like to enter Australia as an educational worker, they may apply for an Educational Visa or Subclass 418. This Australian visa is a subcategory of Employer-sponsored worker visas. Holders of this visa for Australia are allowed to work in Australia for a sponsoring organisation for up to four years at a time.

The sponsoring organisation must be an Australian tertiary education or research institution or school. Meanwhile, the applicants can apply as academics, librarians, technicians, laboratory demonstrators, graduate or post-doctoral researchers or as teachers. Applicants for this Australian visa must have suitable qualifications, skills and experience for the position they are applying for.

Holders of this Australian visa can stay in the country for an approved period of time, work for a specific educational or research institution and bring eligible family members with them.

Sponsorship for this Australia visa is required for applicants who intend to stay for more than three months. In addition, applicants must provide the required documentation such as the letter of appointment from the administrative office or Registrar’s office, certified copies of educational qualifications, certified copies of employment references and the applicant’s curriculum vitae. The applicant must also provide evidence from a relevant Australian registration or licensing authority that the applicant will be able to meet the necessary registration or licensing requirements.

The letter of appointment must show that the position is for full time It should also reflect the duration of the appointment, proposed number of work hours a week, job title and duties as well as the applicant’s salary and other remuneration.
