Graduate visa for gaining 18 months of work experience in Australia

  • Sharebar

Engineering Professionals are amongst the most highly sought after professionals in Australia. The Australian government recognises their contribution to our society and their value as highly trained professionals with a visa specifically designed for them.

The Skilled–Recognised Graduate Visa (subclass 476) allows recent engineering graduates (from certain universities and programs) to gain up to 18 months of skilled work experience in Australia. How good is that?

This visa is for you if you are younger than 31 and have completed an engineering degree (including bachelor, masters and PhD degrees) from selected universities. To find out which universities are eligible, please see the list below, then contact National Visas for details.

Applicants for this visa must not have previously held a 476 visa or a 485 visa (as the main applicant), and they must have completed their degree within the last 2 years before lodging the visa application. Another great advantage of this visa is that you can include your family members in the application and you do not need a sponsor (such as an employer).

Think about the possibilities this visa can open to you! Gaining experience in Australia may open different visa pathways for you such as Skilled Migration or Employer Sponsored visas. You will have the opportunity to practice your English, work and live in Australia for 18 months, and possibly think about migrating if you are willing to do so at a later stage.

One more thing: If you know an Engineer who may be interested in this visa, do not forget to share this article with them! Share the knowledge!

List of countries included in this program:

Australia Canada Taiwan
Hong Kong Ireland Japan
South Korea New Zealand Singapore
South Africa United Kingdom Malaysia
Russia Argentina Brazil
Chile Finland Germany
Hungary India Iran
China Philippines Poland
Slovakia Sweden Tanzania
United States Turkey
