There are two types of Australian visa options available to current or former Australian permanent residents or former Australian citizens to re-enter the country. There’s the Five Year Resident Return Visa or Subclass 155 and the Former Resident Visa or Subclass 151.

This is applicable to Australian immigration visa holders whose most recent permanent visa is one of the following: Business Owner visa, Senior Executive Visa, State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner Visa, State/Territory Sponsored Senior Executive Visa, Investment Linked Visa or Business Talent Visa. Additionally, you must have spent two of the last five years in Australia as a permanent resident.
Former Resident Visas, on the other hand, is for the resettlement of former Australian permanent residents and individuals who served in the Australian Armed Forces before 1981. To be eligible for this visa, you must have spent 9 of the first 18 years in Australia as a permanent resident or you should have completed three months of Armed Forces services.
This Australian immigration visa can let you and your family live in Australia as permanent residents. Upon which, you can work and study in Australia, receive subsidised healthcare, access social security payments after the waiting period, sponsor people for permanent residence after the waiting period and be eligible for Australian citizenship after the residency eligibility criteria has been met.
