Work Visa in Australia

Australia December 6, 2010 – Getting a work visa in Australia nowadays becomes a little bit harder and more complicated. This is because of increasing number of people planning to work in Australia.

This phenomenon can also be rooted from the changes in skilled migration program by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

One important requirement which is needed in getting a work visa for Australia is the job order—a document issued by the labor department as requested by the region or employer. This document indicates that there is really a demand in the job being applied for.

In the recent times, getting this important document is top on the priority list for the applicants of work visa in Australia, unlike the previous application process which is not as strict as the present.

Part of the reorientation program of the immigration department is the removing of the lower level positions in the skills occupation list which makes way for higher level positions. Bad news is, these removed positions have also been deleted from the priority list for visa issuance. So, the applicant will not still be included in the list of priorities even when they get the necessary job order document.

Further, the point system which was previously used to assess the qualification of the applicants has been reversed. As a result, more points are favored to skill level experience as well as English communication skills. Job availability or sponsorship, however, are less favored by this new assessment system.

Meanwhile, a lot of previous visa application process remains the same aside from the above mentioned major changes. Hence, one can still easily get through the process in getting a work visa for Australia, especially when he / she is already familiar with the process.
