Australia November 8, 2010 – Reports stated that there were new changes that the Australian Government has introduced regarding the skilled state sponsored visa scheme.

A formal agreement has been established between the Victorian Government and the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship. The said agreement called the State Migration Plan, concerns the state sponsorship of skilled migrants to Victoria which is under the Skilled – Sponsored (176 and 886) and Skilled – Regional Sponsored (475 and 487) visas.

November 3, 2010 marks the opening of the applications for Victorian Government state sponsorship under the State Migration Plan.

As stated under the agreement, the number of skilled migrants that will be sponsored by the Victorian Government against each occupation listed on the State Sponsorship Eligibility Lists will be limited by a quota. There will also be an overall cap on the whole number of applications which the state will sponsor each year. For the year 2010-11, a total of 4,500 visa grants is Victoria’s cap and this includes the primary and secondary applicants.

In case the limit for an occupation has been reached, an advice will be posted on the relevant occupation/s on the State Sponsorship Eligibility Lists. The advice will state that there will be no more applicants that will be accepted for the said occupation for the time being.

A complete list of occupations for the Victorian Government state sponsorship consideration is available at the Eligibility Lists. As an alternative, interested applicants may get their tickets for the Down Under Live events in 2011 for a chance to come and see other job opportunities that are available to start a new life in Australia.

A lot of job opportunities are being offered by the Australian Government to those people who are seeking a new start in life. However, skills are crucial requirements for one to have a chance to these opportunities.
