The Changes to General Skilled Migration

Australia, February 10, 2010 – Changes have been settled from 8th of February, 2010 with the General Skilled Migraton. However there’s been a report that there is a contradicting between the information from the announcement made by the Australian government in relation to the General Skilled Migration program. To clarify and settle the things that have been said and done below are the following changes to the General Skilled Migration;

  • The abolishment of The Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL), however people who have their Australian visas at hand can still have their bonus MODL if they apply for permanent residency before 31st December, 2012.
  • The Department of Immigration & Citizenship has introduced a cap to all applications lodged before the 1st of September 2007.
  • The result from TRA Skills Assessment of the on-shore skilled visa applicants who have been approved has been announced January 2010.
  • The Critical Skills List (CSL) will be abolished in the second half of this year and will be replaced by a new Skilled Occupations List (SOL).
  • A revised Priority Processing Arrangement has been announced which gives State and Territory governments further opportunity to attract migrants.
