Teachers, Accountants and Engineers hoping to immigrate to Australia are advised to apply under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program now and beat the July 1, 2012 changes in Australia immigration.
Currently, Australia has a specific shortage of mining engineers, teachers and accountants required to fill well-paid positions in the country. Australia’s current resource and mining boom has triggered skills shortage, squeezing Australia’s labor market ever tighter as billions of dollar in mining and infrastructure projects continue to come on line.
Mining engineers entering the job market are set to see starting salaries of around Aus$100,000. Teachers and Accountants moving to Australia are also set to earn substantially more.
Teachers, Accountants and Engineers’ applicants looking to immigrate to Australia can apply under Australia’s General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program. Applicants are required to meet the basic requirements for GSM, pass the Australian immigration Points Test, and pass an occupation skill assessment in order to be eligible to apply for a working visa in Australia.
However, Teachers, Accountants and Engineers are advised to apply now as starting 1 July 2012, Australian immigration will be introducing huge changes to their skilled migration program.
Applicants should note that it is expected that starting July 1, 2012, under the Australian immigration system, fewer people will qualify for the scheme as major changes on Australia’s immigration policies will be initiated in their skilled migration program. Moreover, processing times will be extended.

GSM is designed for professionals and other skilled migrant workers who have the necessary skills, qualifications and experience in particular occupations needed in Australia and who are not sponsored by an employer. The Australian Immigration makes use of the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) as part of their points system.
To qualify to apply for work visa of Australia for skilled migration to Australia, applicants must nominate an occupation from the SOL as well as demonstrate a skill level equal to a bachelor degree or higher. In certain cases, an applicant’s relevant experience or on-the-job training is required in addition to the other qualifications. Registration and/or licensing could also be required.
