Spend Retirement Years Down Under with Australian Retirement Visa
September 22, 2011 – Since July 1, 2009, retirees and their partner who want to spend some of their retirement years in Australia are able to apply for Australia immigration retirement visa.
This Australia visa for retirees allows the retiree Australian visa holders to stay in the country for up to 10 years and, leave and re-enter Australia at any time, undertake study in Australia and work in Australia without subjecting themselves to a condition limiting the amount of work —whether paid and unpaid — that they are able to undertake.
Before, these Australia visas for retirees were valid for only four years. The Australian visas for retirees is specifically designed for self-funded retirees, therefore retirees are generally not entitled to financial assistance or welfare support from the Australian Government.
Under Australia’s Retirement Visa Program, people over 55 years of age who are able to support themselves financially are allowed to spend some of their retirement years in Australia. Moreover, this visa program provides people with the opportunity to work part-time and enjoy a relaxed and rewarding lifestyle in Australia.
Retirement Visa: a Country’s Advantage
Having an Australia migration visa for retirees is an advantage for a country’s real estate industry as each retiree couple would need a place to live. With thousands of potential retirees who would rent or buy thousands of apartments mostly in areas where the real estate market is weakest, a country’s real estate industry would surely benefit.
Moreover, Australia’s health care system would also benefit since Medicare benefits are usually not available for this retirees, so they will be required to have insurance.
New Application Form for Retirees
Last April 2, 2011, a new application form has been introduced by the immigration Australia department to cater specifically for retirees who want to spend some of their retirement years in Australia.
Visa Australia Applicants for the Investor Retirement (subclass 405) and the Retirement (subclass 410) visa lodging on or after 2 April 2011 need to complete this new application form.
