Skilled Visa Process Now Faster with Streamlined SkillSelect System

February 20, 2013 – “Thanks to SkillSelect, skilled visa processing has never been faster, which is great news if you’re interested in working in Australia,” is what a spokesman of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has to say about the streamlined SkillSelect system which was launched in July last year.

It is reported that the streamlined process has resulted in faster processing of the skilled visa in Australia. In fact, in five months alone, there have already been 2,717 skilled visas that have been approved according to DIAC.

With the new system, applicants for the skilled visa in Australia must first submit their EOI (Expression of Interest) and an invitation to apply is then sent to those who proved to have the skills necessary in Australia.

“If you receive an invitation through SkillSelect to apply for a skilled visa, you have all the details for your visa application ready in a complete EOI,” the spokesman added.

Another positive factor about SkillSelect is that it is widely used now by State and Territory governments in finding overseas skilled workers.

According to one who has been granted a skilled visa in Australia by using the SkillSelect, he appreciates how speedily his visa was processed.

However, you should also be aware that before you lodge your EOI you must thoroughly prepare every part of your application. This will include obtaining a skills assessment, having your education and work history properly assessed, meeting English language and points test requirements, and in many cases obtaining state government sponsorship (nomination). You need to be very careful that the information you provide in your EOI is accurate and complete. If you are found to have provided false information your visa will be refused and you could face a ban on being granted other visas to Australia.

As such, if you are planning on applying of a skilled visa it is very important to seek the services of a registered migration agent. Please contact National Visas for detailed advice relevant to your situation.
