Overseas students to Australia decreased
May 17, Australia – According to the recent news the total percentage of the overseas students to Australia has been decreased. These students that came from India, Vietnam and China have dropped 40 per cent last month. This according to the report is the effect of the recent changes to Australia’s visa regime.
“Last month, there was a significant decline in applications from India, Vietnam and China. It’s a concern,” Tony Pollock, chief of country’s leading international education and development organisation, IDP, said.
Because of the most overseas students who have experienced student crisis that led to decreased of its percentage. From Pollock statement who warned a probable loss of 600 million Australian dollars in export profits due to refuse in student applications.
In addition to Pollock statement that if there is a almost 10 percent decreased over a whole year in which 30,000 Australian dollars has been added to the economy by them. Then in the end it would be a 600 million Australian dollar shortage. “It’s tougher to get a student visa, which means people are questioning whether they will ever get a (permanent) visa for Australia, and whether they should look elsewhere to get an education,” Pollock said.
China and India are Australia’s top two source countries according to the report. In accordance Pollock said government must keep the skilled migration pathway open for international students.
