Australia June 21, 2011 – Australia Migration Program which does not discriminate on the basis of race or religion, which means that anyone from any country can apply to migrate to Australia regardless of their ethnic origin, gender or color provided that they meet the criteria set out in law, has practically opened the country to all people who wish to migrate to Australia.

Australia’s Multicultural Policy has made the country attractive to all kinds of people who wish to migrate to a country that respects all culture and values and the rights of each citizen regardless of its race or religion.

According to the recent data from the Bureau of Statistics, over 2 million Asians are now residing in Australia, overshadowing the European-born population for the first time in Australia’s history.

In mid-2010, the estimated the number of Asian-born residents in Australia has reached to over 2.01 million, which is virtually double as compared to the past decade, which is 1.03 million in mid-2000.

In mid-2000, Asians have made up a third of Australia’s population growth. Otherwise, in this decade alone, the number of Chinese-born people living in Australia has reached 380,000 by the middle of last year, which is more than double from 148,000 from the last decade.

Likewise, the number of Indian-born residents has reached to 340,000, which is more than trebled in that time from 96,000.

Asians has now outnumbered Italians living in Melbourne to form the city’s largest non-Anglo community.

Migration from West Asia (from Iran westwards) has sharply peaked, partially because of the refugees from the Iraq war.

The recent Australian migration of Asians is startling contrast to the sluggish Australia immigration of British migrants which made up fewer than 1.2 million in mid-2010, which is roughly half of the total from the last decade of around 2.4 million.

The arrivals of Australians born in Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Germany, Malta or the old Yugoslavia have been steadily dwindling.

By two or three years, the number of European-Australians will likely be overtaken by the number of Asian-Australians.
