New Processing Arrangements and State Migration Plan Announced

January 6, 2011 Australia – The South Australian Government’s State Migration plan has been signed and announced. The signed agreement covers state sponsorship of skilled migrants to South Australia under the Skilled – Sponsored (176 and 886) and Skilled – Regional Sponsored (475 and 487) visas. It was announced that there is an overall cap on the total number of grants each year which was signed under the said agreement. For 2010 and 2011 Australian government had given out 4,650 visa grants that include primary and secondary applicants.

It is reported that there is limited visa grant cap for the number of skilled migrants which will be sponsored by the South Australian Government due to its planning level. The status of the list of occupations that reach its planning level will shift from “Available” to “Not Available”.

Those sponsorship applications that have undergone approval and submission to DIAC will be given priority on the processing that those with new applications. But those occupations that have been listed as “Not Available” will be available to Onshore applicants. It is possible if the applicant meet the same criteria listed under the Off List sponsor criteria.

Immigration SA reserves the right to not proceed with any undecided but submitted application. This happens when an occupation becomes “Not Available”. This does not exempt those with all the essential documents submitted.

In addition to this, the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship have announced new processing arrangements that prioritize some of skilled migration visas. This priority processing will be given for the 14th of July which is in order of highest priority.
