New directions with new SOL

May 24, 2010, Australia – According to the news lately, Chris Evans has been announced that the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) has been released by the Australian Minister for Immigration and Citizenship. This in accordance to the news is part of the critical reform in the Government’s overhaul of general migration. Latest SOL is said to have 200 occupations needed for Australian immigration, that includes medical professionals including dentists, nurses and osteopaths, as well as engineers, teachers, IT professionals, welders and other trade occupations.

Starting July 1, 2010 the new SOL will take place and will be applied to all the applicants of Australian Visa to live and work in Australia under the General Skilled Migration Program. However the SOL will not affect Australian Immigration applications under the Employer Nomination Scheme or employer sponsored temporary residency visas.

“This SOL represents a new direction which aims to ensure we choose migrants who have the skills to meet our nation’s economic needs,” Senator Evans said.

In accordance to the report on the 8 February 2010 the latest SOL is not applicable for the individuals who will apply on this date, held a subclass 485 (skilled graduate) visa or had a pending subclass 485 visa application and who apply for a provisional or permanent onshore General Skilled Migration visa before the 31 December 2012.
