September 13, 2010 Australia – Australian Prime Minister Julian Gillard secured power for her center-left Labor Party by the winning the support of two independent ministers – giving the ruling party a tiny, one seat majority in Parliament. By holding a public summit on the proposed tax reforms, Labor Party has revealed that they did it to win the support of the two independent ministers and another one which actually finalized the decisions that was made on which is to choose the major party that they would support, which is the Australian Labour Party. It has held onto its majority of seats, and would continue then as Australia’s Government for another term.

The Australian government has made a lot of noise on its previously held election due to the delay of the clear winner for the said election. In order to win a majority in the government, one party is required to win at least 76 seats and at the end of the vote count, neither party had enough seats to win the majority of the power in the government.

Along with the major parties, 4 independent ministers held seats in parliament, and both major parties needed support from these ministers to gain a majority. Because of this, the three independent ministers are left undecided yet until Adam Bandt made its announcement that he would support the Labour Party.

Later on, after two separate press conferences, it was announced that the Australian Labour Party had won the support of another two independent ministers, completing its 76 seat majority, making it possible for Prime Minister Julia Gillard to remain in power for another 3 year term.

With this win, it is likely expected that the Australian immigration is still expected to push the immigration to regional areas, to make a push for the populations and provide skilled professionals to regional communities, This has been transparently being announced during the said campaigns of the Labour party. The independent ministers will be holding a considerable year on power with the new government as they will most likely have the final votes in any controversial policy changes.
