More People Continue to Relocate to Australia
Australia, August 22, 2011 – As Australia’s economy continues to stabilize and grow, driven by its resource and infrastructure boom, more and more people are found migrating and relocating to Australia.
According to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) Subclass 457 State/Territory summary report for 2010-11 to 30 June 2011, the Trends in the subclass 457 Business (Long Stay) Australian visa program to June 2011 date reveals the following key points in overseas migration:
The number of Subclass 457 primary visa applications lodged to the end of June 2011 was 39.7 per cent higher than the same period in the 2009-10 program years.
To the end of June 2011, 56.8 per cent of applications were lodged offshore. Offshore applications were 53.4 per cent higher in 2010-11 than in the 2009-10 program years.
The number of primary visa holders in Australia at 30 June 2011 was 72 030, an increase of 5.3 per cent in comparison with the same date last year.
Likewise, Australia’s Net Migration Rate revealed a recorded net outflow of 220 people in July as more and more people are applying for migration to Australia and being approved which is said to have trailed a steady run of net outflows recorded since March.
As Australia’s chronic skills shortages kicking in, many overseas skilled workers are applying for Australian visas.
With Western Australia continuing to invest in the infrastructure and skills its economy needed, which includes pursuing a strategy of skilled migration to fill jobs which are beyond its current workforce’s capacity, the state’s capital, Perth, has just been reclassified as a regional hardship area under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RMPS), making it easier for Australian employers to recruit temporary workers for Australian migration from overseas and to smooth their path in their immigration to Australia and for their permanent residency.
