More looking forward to emigrating
Australia October 6, 2010 -Thousands of people, including students and young families, have attended the “Working Abroad Expo” held over the weekend in RDS in Dublin. These people, all struggling under the pressure of recession are prospective emigrants wanting to get advice about moving abroad.
5,000 people were recorded to have attended the two-day exhibition. The expo was organized to help people who are thinking of moving to another country get in touch with recruiters and visa experts from famous emigrant destinations like Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
45 specialist exhibitors were present during the event. This includes an impressive line up of speakers from different government bodies, recruitment agencies, migration officials, and relocation experts who offered advice and assistance about building a new life in another country.
The recent visa options for citizens of Ireland were presented by an exhibitor from Immigration New Zealand. Also present was another exhibitor from the Canadian High Commission.
Stephen McLarnon, one of the organisers of the said event noted the increased number of participants as compared to that of last year. He further added that a great number of Irish people were seen in the event. Most of the people who attended, according to McLarnon, have jobs but are thinking of the immediate future.
Orla Smith, a woman from Swords, Co Dublin who was in the event said that the reason for her plans of going out of the country is to provide a good future for her daughter. She and her partner, Des are thinking of moving to Australia to find better jobs.
Another participant, Marianne Vaughn from Kildare, is also hoping for a new life. A graduating student of social care, she pointed out that she might not get a good job with her limited experience. Her friends in Canada are doing better there so she might also try Canada as her destination.
Most of the people who attended cited lack of job opportunities due to the bad economy as the reason for their leaving.
