Lovesick employee keeps job

Australia November 18, 2010 – Love is literally in the air, at least this was so in the Department of Immigration.

An employee at the Department of Immigration was reported to have sent a mass email to each and everyone in the office as a move to track down a girl he reportedly met at a party.

The lovesick employee was identified as Steve Tucker. According to him, the girl he has been tracking was named Olivia. The said girl was a housemate of an employee who also works in the department. Tucker was tracking down the girl as she had left a strong positive impression on him, this according to ABC.

According to the said email, Tucker met Olivia briefly the past Saturday night. This was when he felt that she has left a strong and positive image on him but was disappointed that he was not able to finish their said meeting the way he wanted it to. He stated that this has what’s been bugging him since then.

He also made a plea in his mail to let Olivia know that he wishes to get in contact with her or her to him. It was made clear in his email that he understands that the company website is not the most appropriate way to do such thing. Tucker added that though this was clear to him, he had used all his willpower to do such thing. He also mentioned that life is too short and this is something that all the other employees could understand.

The end of his email bore his name, phone number, and a message for everyone to ‘have an awesome Monday’.

Sandi Logan, a Spokesperson for the Immigration Department told the ABC that though the email was a clear breach of policy, this is not reason enough for the man to lose his job. There was no exact figure as to how many employees have received the email but the department’s website indicates that it has a total of 8000 employees.

Logan added that the action was a clear breach of the department’s email system but even this was the case, it is not something that would warrant for Tucker to leave his post. However, the matter was brought into the values and conduct branch. He further said that he would not be making any speculation as what the outcome would be but that at the end of the day, Tucker had made inappropriate use of the department’s email.
