Improvement in Bilateral Relations between India and Australia
January 28, 2011 – There is a lot of improvement in bilateral relations between Indian Immigrants and Australia itself. This was observed by an Indian immigrant named Shams and said that there is comparatively lot of improvement in the relations between two countries. Many white customers are now coming to his shop and buying various items which are an obvious proof of improvement in the relationship of the two countries.
In 2009, there was a series of attacks on Indian students that have been attributed by police to opportunistic criminals. This was escalated into a diplomatic row between both Australia and India after some students from India and Indian media labeled the attacks as obviously “racist”. That attack have made Australia a no longer safe place for international students and it prompted protests and call for better protection by local authorities.
Every effort is being made already by the government to improve the relationship between India and Australia as said by Anu Raju, another Indian immigrant. He believed that every effort about this improvement will surely happen because both parties hold equal responsibilities. This improvement will also make any difference in application for Australian visa.
As for Indian point of view, Australians may be unjust but Indians migrating to Australia should also take responsibility of integrating and putting things through the proper channels rather than taking it overboard. Raju added that he personally feel that these responsibilities stand in both parties. One country or another should not be blamed either ways.
S.M Krishna, an Indian Foreign Minister has talked on a series of much-publicized attacks on Indian students in Victoria during his last visit in Australia in 2009. That attack had prompted a critical decline in the number of Indian students who have been seeking visas Australian. It also caused some diplomatic discomfort between two countries which sparked angry protest in India.
It is said that Australia’s international student sector is Australia’s third-largest export earner behind oil and coal so it is obvious that there are numerous of Indians who apply for Australian visa online. There are 93,000 Indian students that have been reported studying in Australia.
