Australia, August 12, 2009 – Environmentally conscious Australian business can now be better educated on Green IT. Excom Education announced plans of launching the industry’s first Green IT training courses.

The curriculum is developed by Excom Education and Connection Research and focuses on three aspects of Green IT. Courses include: an introduction to Green IT best practices and concepts, an overview of Green IT planning and implementation and information on selecting a Carbon Emissions Management Software.

Excom CEO Jim Watson said they are planning more courses after the positive turnout in a Canberra seminar. Yesterday’s one-day seminar was entitled “Green IT Fundamentals”. It was an entry-level look at best practices for developing a Green IT strategy. The event was attended by 100 participants.

“The courses we have started will provide participants with the tools to go back to their organisation and begin implementing changes that will in turn reduce their power consumption.”

Excom announced that it will be launching a two-day course on “Green IT Design and Implementation” by Septemenber. This will take a practical look at developing a business case of Green ICT investment, planning and monitoring. There will also be a one-day course to train student on how to evaluate the Carbon Emissions Management software solutions on the market.

“We can really sense that people have realised Green IT is here to stay. There is an excitement at customer level and at vendor level. Software vendors see it as a potential revenue source. Most of the vendors at our seminars so far are going to follow this up with their own people and partner channel,” said Watson. “To our knowledge, we are offering the first commercial, instructor-led programs in the world around green IT,”
