Doubt on Australia securities
December 29, 2009 Australia – ABC net reported that The Federal Government says it is in touch with US authorities to safeguard travel in Australia after a man tried to detonate an explosive on a flight to Detroit.
The 23 year old Nigerian has been charged by the US Government over the attempted terrorist attack on a Northwest Airlines flight on Christmas Day. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who allegedly has communication to Al Qaeda, experienced third degree burns in the incident and has been in care in a medical centre.
Report said that the charge is attempting to detonate an explosive and blow up the plane, which was carrying 278 people. Anthony Albanese, spokeswoman for the Federal Minister for Transport said that there will not be any changes to Australian security as yet but it is monitoring the situation.
Australia calms areas of aviation security yesterday, allowing passengers to bring nail clippers and knitting needles in their carry-on baggage.
Airline Security has now been tightened in America and Europe.
