Closer Ties between Bangladesh and Australia through Work & Holiday Visa

January 7, 2010 – A work and holiday agreement took effect last December 31 which let young people from both Australia and Bangladesh to have the opportunity to be employed in each other’s country. This agreement is possible for university-educated Australian and Bangladesh travelers who are aged between 18 and 30. Nationalities from both countries will now be able to work at the same time enjoy holiday for up 12 months.

Do remember that a work and holiday visa is different from a working holiday visa. If working holiday visa requires applicants to support themselves independently, a work and holiday visa requires applicants to have the support of their government for their study or education towards tertiary qualifications. This type of visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment. What make the both visa alike as both of them require an individual to speak functional English.

Bangladesh has been reported as the latest country to have a reciprocal work and holiday visa arrangement with Australia. Other countries include Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and the United States. Those citizens of Iran who are currently in Australia on a Work and Holiday visa may also be eligible to apply for further Work and Holiday visas. The approved Work and Holiday Visa received positive feedback on these arrangements and is quickly filled each year.

Both Australia and Bangladesh agreed to have a limit of 100 work and holiday visas granted every year. But this figure will be under observation and will be reviewed annually. This has been a great investment in future relations with Bangladesh. This means that both countries have developed links between their nationalities. It is also designed to encourage cultural exchange and closer ties between arrangement countries.
