Changes in visa application and processing of Australian visas in Brunei
March 10, 2011 Australia – The Australian High Commission located in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei will stop receiving and processing of all over-the-counter visa applications beginning March 1of this year.
Moreover, only citizens of Brunei and other countries that are under the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) program who are traveling to Australia for either business or tourism will follow the same policies. No change has been imposed on them. However, all countries who do not have the ETA will have to lodge their visa applications directly at the Australian High Commission Office at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Australian High Commission located at 6 Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, Kuala Lumpur 50450, Malaysia.
Temporary Entry Visa applications in ETA countries will still be applied through a travel agency or airline. The website of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/967/how-to-apply.htm., contains the details pertinent to the new policy.
Brunei citizens are already eligible to apply for student visas. They can log on to www.australia.org.my/ klpr/studentvisa.html. Student visa applicants who wish to find out their assessment level are advised to log on to www.immi.gov.au/allforms/ pdfassessment-levels.pdf. On the other hand, Brunei citizens who are wanting to stay in Australia as visitors for more than 12 months can apply for an e676 tourist visa online at immi.gov.au/e_visa/visitors.htm.
