Australian Visitor Visa and Other Visa Requirements Simplified
Australia, April 25, 2011 – As Australia has announced last first week of April that it has lowered barrier for entry for foreign students, Australian Immigration Minister, Chris Bowen, together with Minister for Small Business, Nick Sherry, has also announced a discussion paper inquiring for views regarding on the simplification of Australian visitor visa.
Australian Immigration Minister Bowen said that the Australian government is making an effort to reduce the different types of visas and visa subclasses by fifty percent by 2015 if possible.
Accordingly, Mr. Bowen also said that the government’s proposal to simplify visitor visas follows on from the government’s recent commitment to streamline temporary work visas.
He also added that the government is taking on broad public consultation regarding the Australian visa simplification process and in order to ensure it, the impact of any changes on the community is also being considered.
One of the proposed plans was that all short-stay or non-business visitor work activities be transferred out of the visitor program and moved into the new unsponsored short-stay visa. The transfer will create part of the proposed new temporary work visa. It has also been proposed that the types of Australian visitor visas are reduced from the current nine visas to four.
Senator Sherry went on to say that the planned streamlining process will be accomplished by relocating certain short-stay work privileges and by consolidating common regulatory requirements.
Senator Sherry added that the government is setting up to pull off additional simplification activities in this area by standardizing similar regulations and removing duplicate regulation.
If you wish to submit comment on these proposals, you have until May 13, 2011 to do so.
With these moves, it is hoped that in the future there will be a more simplified visit visa requirements and that this will result in more people visiting Australia.
