Australian Five-Star Hotels’ Customer Satisfaction On the Rise
January 16, 2012 – More and more guests are more satisfied with Australia’s luxury hotels With 5.9 million visitor arrivals on Australia travel visa during the year that ended in November 2011, an increase of 0.4 per cent relative to the previous year was recorded.
Also, there had been 5.2 million visitor arrivals on Australian tourist visa to Australia during the eleven months to November 2011. Though a decrease of 0.1 per cent relative to the same period of the previous year was seen, it seems a large number of these visitors on Australia visitor visa who have stayed in one of Australia’s luxury hotels have been satisfied with the level of luxury they were getting.
Despite the dire predictions for Australia’s luxury hotel industry, as well as Asia’s cheaper wages giving the region’s top end markets an edge that Australia supposedly can’t beat, the latest figures from Roy Morgan Research — Australia’s best known and longest established market research and public opinion survey company suggest that the middle of the range hotels should be the ones who are to be worried.
Roy Morgan Research revealed that there has been a solid rise in the customer satisfaction for guests staying in Australia’s premium hotel chains over the past year, with Crowne Plaza and Sheraton leading the survey.
According to the Roy Morgan Research Hotel Customer Satisfaction Survey that measured 27 accommodation providers, the latest data showed that out of the 80% average satisfaction for all Hotels and Resorts for the year ending November 2011, both Crowne Plaza and Sheraton had continued to share the lead for hotel customer satisfaction. Both recorded 91% of customers satisfied for the twelve months to November 2011, followed by Westin, Hilton and Mantra, all with 89 per cent.
Moreover, a gain of up to 8 per cent was revealed for the top 10 performers over the previous year, with above 85 per cent who rated their experience as at least fairly satisfying.
Tourism and Transport Forum spokesman, Rowan Barker, stated that the high customer satisfaction indicates that guests at Australia’s premium hotels are satisfied with what they have experienced with regards to the standards of the properties, their rooms, amenities and service. This is good news for Australian tourism as these happy customers mean repeat business as they will in all likelihood also tell their social networks about their stay.
