Australia Work Visa Overseas Application Increases by 50%
August 23, 2011 – With Western Australia’s resources boom boosting jobs for 457 travel visa Australia holders and with more than the doubling over of construction jobs for temporary workers in WA over the past 11 months to 2,160 from 1,060, as well as mining jobs for 457 visa holders also on the rise from 1,390 to 1,890, many overseas skilled workers are applying for either an online Australian visa or offline via courier.
According to the figures of the overseas application for Australian visa, particularly the 457 travel visas Australia on the Trends in the subclass 457 Business (Long Stay) travel visa Australia program to June 2011 found in Australia’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) Subclass 457 State/Territory summary report for 2010-11 to June 30, 2011, up to the end of June 2011, 56.8 per cent of the 457 travel visas to Australia applications were lodged offshore, which is 53.4 per cent higher in 2010-11 than in the 2009-10 program year and 6.1 per cent higher than in May 2011.
Of the number of Subclass 457 primary visas granted to the end of June 2011 which was 38.2 per cent higher than the same period in the 2009-10 program year, 77.9 per cent of primary visa grants were to Managers and Professionals and 16.5 per cent were to Technicians and Trades Workers.
The number of visas granted in June 2011 was 1.5 per cent higher than May 2011.
Statistics also shows that the top three industries for primary visa grants in the 2010-11 program years were Health Care and Social Assistance with 13.0 per cent, Other Services with 12.4 per cent, and Construction with 12.3 per cent while the top three occupations for primary visa grants to June 30, 2011 were Developer Programmer with 4.1 per cent, Management Consultant with 2.8 per cent, and Resident Medical Officer with 2.6 per cent.
Moreover, the top three citizenship countries who were granted for primary visas to June 30, 2011 were the United Kingdom with 24.6 per cent, India with 18.2 per cent, and the United States of America with 8.1 per cent. These 3 countries were also the top three citizenship countries to the end of the 2009-10 program years.
Meanwhile, in a move to expand the reach of its Tourist Australia visa online, starting this 20th of September 2011, citizens of Chile and Turkish Special, Service and Diplomatic passport holders will be able to apply for an electronic Tourist visa known as e676 Tourist Australian visa online.
