Australia visa norms for students to be relaxed

February 9, 2011 – Facilitators in India have been hopeful with the proposal to relax the norms of Australia migration visa for students from April. This is to benefit those seeking for higher education in Australia. The company hopes seeing more students going there and reversing a two-year decline.
Harvinder Singh, a representative from IDP Education India announced the said proposal will take effect by April allows multiple sponsors rather than first-blood relations. There will also be a change in key norms like showing funding for lesser duration of stay. IDP Education India is a company jointly owned by 38 Australian universities and is the co-owner of IELTS.
As per announcement made by Chris Bowen, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship and Senator Chris Evans, the Minister for Tertiary Education, there will be 38 countries to have their assessment level lowered across one or more subclass for visas Australia. Of course, it sounds like there will also be a few changes in Australian visa requirements for students wanting to get a higher education and looking forward to build a career in this land down under.
Over the past couple of years, students’ enrolment from India in Australia universities had massively dropped. Due to reasons like stricter Australia visiting visa norms, the enrolment percentage was downed by about 70 per cent. Another reason is the increase in cost of education and violence against Indian students settled in the country. This drastic lowering of the percentage level of international students most especially Indian students continued to remain that way.
Unlike Punjab, the students are primarily most interested in post-graduate courses which were initially a Vocational Education and Training market. VET courses may have driven migration from India; however, it was unfortunate that the market was completely wiped out after the widespread charges of racism. The revised norms may become attractive again for VET courses.
To all student visas, the assessment levels are a risk management approach. It determines amount of evidence that visa applicants need to supply and the level of scrutiny.
