Aussie Hotels Storm Expedia Top 1000
Australia, May 7, 2009 – While the nation’s tourism industry is generally feeling the pinch of the global economic downturn, Australian hotels are still gaining international recognition. According to global online travel website Expedia.com.au, Australia’s hotels have quadrupled in presence in the site’s Top 1000 list over last year.
The annual list called Expedia Insiders Select is now in its third year. It is compiled using feedback from hundreds of thousands of customers as well as insight from its network of experts worldwide.
This year’s list has 21 Australian hotels. Adelaide’s Majestic Roof Garden Hotel has been judged as the country’s top hotel and 24th in the world.
“The fact that Australian hotels have more than quadrupled their presence on this year’s Insiders Select list confirms our belief that Australia offers world-class accommodation,” Expedia.com.au marketing manager Louise Crompton said. “(It) shows that international travellers are impressed by both the quality and value of the accommodation they find in our country.”
Topping the list is Canada’s Chateau Beauvallon in Quebec. This is followed by Prince Park Tower in Tokyo, Japan and Viva Marinha Hotel & Suites in Cascais, Portugal.
