Asians got the highest score in Australia high school test
July 7, 2010 – Recent news that has been spread stated that most students who got a higher score in Australian high school test are Asians. Children of Asian migrants outperform their English-speaking counterparts in the entrance test of selective top high schools in Australia. In accordance to the report from The Sydney Morning Herald that almost 42 perfect of children and students who are said to come from countries that English was their second language are doing well. From the Australia’s school annual discerning high school entrance test in 2009 these said students won a place in the privileged classification. However only 23 percent of students from English speaking countries got in.
These success and attainment of students from immigrant families in the discerning system has increased and grew considerably from 29 percent in 1995 to 62 percent in 2008. Most of these students are graduates from school who achieved their learning because of the private educations and training.
According to the Department of Education, these classes are designed to provide “intellectual stimulation and an educationally enriched environment for academically gifted and talented children”.
Craig Campbell, a Sydney University academic and co-author of School Choice said, “Anglo families have a different sense of what a child’s life should look like and they are really concerned about narrowing a child’s life down to passing the selective school entrance test.”
