A Speedier Visa Processing for Australia Chinese Migrants
August 16, 2011 – China, currently ranked fourth behind New Zealand, Britain and the United States, is now becoming Australia’s fastest growing inbound tourism market.
As China is forecasted to become Australia’s largest inbound tourism market within seven years and its largest trading partner, moves to make Australian visa tourist application process easier and speedier are being welcomed to accommodate the fast growing number of Chinese tourists in the country.
According to a recent Tourism Research Australia (TRA) report, Chinese tourists are the biggest spenders in Australia, and they are likely to spend more in future.
The TRA report revealed that in spite of ranking the fourth in the inbound tourism market, Chinese tourists still outspent the other four in 2010 to the tune of $3.3 billion.
In 2010 alone, Visitors from China increased by 22 percent from the previous year to 454,000, with most of these Chinese visitors entering Australia via the gateway cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, but 7 percent spent nights in regional Australia.
Since gaining Approved Destination Status (ADS) and becoming the first Western destination to receive approval to host group leisure travelers from China in 1999, Australia has become at the forefront in China’s destination marketing while China has grown exponentially to becoming one of Australia’s top five sources of international travelers, with a massive number of Chinese visitors applying for Australian holiday visas or Australian work holiday visa.
With this increasing number of Chinese visitors, it would be a lucrative move to make reforms on its Australian visa tourist processing time in order to entice more Chinese tourist to the country.
Reforms on its working holiday Australia visa should be made with regards to its processing time as many Chinese tourists actually decide quite late on when they are going travelling and knowing that they can easily get the holiday Australia visa and processes it easily and with less time, this will surely attract more Chinese to visit Australia.
That they’re going to be travelling, knowing that they can get that visa more easily … will be really critical.
Just recently, the Australian Government had announced that it will invest $30 million to market Australia to the dynamic Chinese travel market, which includes increasing its marketing funds being allocated by Tourism Australia to grow tourism from China.
