457 Work Visas
Australia December 7, 2010 – Reports on the Australia’s recovery from the global financial crisis have been circulating around the news lately and economists have yet to explain this complete turnaround. Currently, Australia has recovered from the unemployment struggle after a period of decrease in the rates of skilled labor.
It can be remembered that Australia has been severely affected by the newly implemented policies restricting the Australian immigration law. However, those who would like to work in Australia still have an option nowadays and this is what keeps Australia’s labor force, making way to its full recovery. This option is known to be the 457 work visas. Despite the strict requirements in getting Australia visa, workers from foreign countries can avail of this working visa, which allows companies to sponsor workers from abroad to work in Australia for a certain period of time.
After the decline in visa applications due to restricted Australia immigration policies, a significant increase was seen in May 2010 as almost 4, 000 visa applications were recorded using the 457 visas to travel to Australia. More than 50% of this came from applications outside the country.
Two of the most visited states in Australia also recorded an increase in the application of working visa Australia. New South Wales increased to a little more than 20% in its recorded applications as most of them were through 457 visa. On the other hand, Western Australia recorded a little more than 15% of increased visa applications.
This strategy, having a company directly sponsoring skilled individuals from other parts of the world, has been an excellent option for Australia in providing for their work force. In this way, Australia can still keep up with the demands of the market without having to adjust their immigration policies.
