While Australian visas are generally classified into categories such as those for workers, migrants, visitors, students or refugees, there are some special types of visas in subclasses. One good example is the Australian visa for medical treatment.
This is the most appropriate Australian visa for people who are traveling into the country for medical treatment. It has two subclasses. Medical Treatment Short Stay Visa or subclass 675 is for people who plan to travel to Australia for a period of up to three months. The Medical Treatment Long Stay Visa or subclass 685 is for people who plan to travel to Australia for a period of three to twelve months.
This Australian visa is for people who require medical treatment or consultation in Australia (except for surrogate motherhood), those traveling to Australia to donate an organ, or for people accompanying or providing support to patients who need treatment.
Medical Treatment Australian visas may be granted for single or multiple entries. Aside from being allowed to visit Australia, the visa holder can also study up to three months. Holders of this Australian visa are not allowed to work in the country.
For eligibility, one of the most important aspects to consider is your financial capability. Applicants for this Australian visa must be able to provide evidence that he or she has sufficient funds to cover for the trip, the treatments and the accommodation arrangements. It should be enough money to complete the treatment plan as well as pay for expenses of the people accompanying you and other expenses related to the stay in Australia. Furthermore, health and character eligibility will be required of visa applicants.
If you have a medical condition that could be a threat to public health, you will not be eligible to apply. The same also follows if you have a condition attached to your visa which does not allow further stay.
