Planning to apply for an Australia immigration visa? The Australian immigration department does accept all applications lodged, regardless of who lodges them. Australian visa lodgment options vary. Either you will be the one who will lodge your visa application yourself, or if you do not feel confident in lodging your own application or if your case is complex, you are allowed to employ a registered migration agent to help with your visa application to Australia.

Though it is possible to engage migration agents to assist with your dealings with the Australia immigration department, you must take notice and remember that it is still yourself who is responsible for the accuracy of information and supporting documentation provided as part of your application. The migration agent cannot influence the outcome or fast-track the processing of your application or guarantee you a visa.
If you choose to use a migration agent, the first thing you need to be sure of is that the person you are dealing with is a registered migration agent.
Registration will provide you protection and help to ensure that people working as migration agents are aware of current l immigration Australia laws and procedures and give correct advice.
In Australia, such persons who provide immigration to Australia assistance are regulated by a governing authority called the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA). Only those who are Australian Citizens and Australian Permanent Residents are eligible to apply to MARA for registration. An Australian lawyer is immediately eligible to apply for registration whilst other applicants are required to hold a Graduate Certificate in Migration Law and Practice.
The Australian migration department strongly recommends that applicants considering using an agent should employ the services of a registered (MARA) migration agent.
In order to know if the migration agent is MARA registered, you could either ask to see their certificate of registration (which has their photograph on it) or check the Register of Agents on Office of the MARA website. The website has a list of all agents with a valid registration. In the website, you can go to ‘Find an Agent’ and search by Personal Details (that is, Family Name, Given Name or Business Name) or Location Details (that is, Postcode, Suburb or Country).
Prior to employing a registered migration agent, you must ask for a contract or statement of services and an outline of fees applicable to your circumstances. Take note: do not sign the contract or statement of services until you fully understand the terms of the work to be done. You could do this by asking questions to clarify anything you do not understand. You could ask about their experience. Ask about their areas of expertise; their experience, knowledge and competence to effectively deal with your issue and the outcomes of any prior similar matters. You must also ask about their fee and the terms. Ask if their fee includes a conditional refund, will they you provide you with written information as to how they propose to refund your money. You could also ask if there are any other costs.
You should also not forget to ask for your options. Ask what options they can recommend; options you can apply for and what do they expect from you in relation to the service. You could also ask if the fees could be reduced if you do some of the work, as well as ask for the drawbacks if you do some of the work.
If you have decided to engage the services of a registered migration agent, then don’t look too far.
